Roxy welcomes Crimson Tide broadcaster Saturday night
Someone looking for a good, inspirational program might just want to go to the Historic Roxy Theatre Saturday. Alabama Crimson Tide Sports Network broadcaster Chris Stewart will be presenting the story of his amazing recovery from a stroke.
A little more than a year ago, the 47-year-old suffered a stroke in the middle of the night. His wife Christy found him unresponsive in bed about 5 a.m., and he was rushed to St. Vincent’s.
After CAT scans, doctors located a blockage in an artery to Stewart’s brain. They immediately sent him to Brookwood Hospital.
It was seven hours from the time of his stroke until he entered a surgery that wasn’t guaranteed to work.
The surgery, however, was successful, and as Stewart puts it, “Other than having a little droop in my left eye right now – and with that there’s some blurred and double-vision – there’s no other indication really that I’ve had a stroke.”
Stewart’s broadcasting career has been successful by most anyone’s standards. He has been honored as Alabama Sportscaster of the Year by the National Media Association in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2016. He is host of the Nick Saban Show and has many entertaining experiences as a broadcaster that he will share in his talk Saturday.
