Trey Daughtry leads Red Bay past Phillips

Trey Daughtry had a huge day at the plate for the Red Bay Tigers as they smoked the Phillips Bears 10-0.

Daughtry went 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs to lead the way for the Tigers.

Red Bay scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and four in the second inning to put the game away quickly.

Three Red Bay pitchers combined for the win: Kaleb Sims, Alex Burroughs and Peyton Green all played a part on the mound. Burroughs struck out five batters and gave up the only Phillips’ hit of the game.

Burroughs also had two hits and scored two runs.

Kolby Bragwell scored three runs, while Green and Cade McKinney scored two runs each. Chase Allen had two RBIs.

Versus Tharptotwn, Allen pitched a one-hit shutout of the Wildcats to lead Red Bay to a 9-0 win in the two teams’ area series opener at Tharptown Monday.

Allen also came through at the plate with two hits and four RBIs.

Red Bay led 3-0 through five innings but exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth inning to ice the game.

Bragwell had two hits, including a triple, and scored three runs. McKinney went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs.
