Phil Campbell gets walk-off win over Tharptown

The Phil Campbell Bobcats staged a come-from-behind effort that culminated in a walkoff 6-5 over the Tharptown Wildcats Friday.

The game was tied at five, with Phil Campbell batting in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Caymen Quinn put the ball in play, scoring Emily Swinney to win the game.

Tharptown led 4-2 going into the fourth inning. Phil Campbell scored two runs in the bottom half of the fourth to tie the game at four; Tharptown reclaimed the lead 5-4 in the top of the fifth before the Bobcat heroics in the bottom half of the inning.

Caitlynn Mills scored two runs for the Bobcats. Swinney, Quinn, Olivia Taylor and Kenner Scott all also scored for Phil Campbell.

Swinney went the distance pitching for the Bobcats.

THS’ Shaylee Wieting and Brooke Daily each went 4-for-4 and scored two runs. Olivia Ergle, Olivia Darricot and Catie Dawson each had two hits, while Daily and Darricot both doubled.

Olivia Ergle pitched four innings for Tharptown, striking out six batters and giving up four runs.

Phil Campbell 16, Shoals Christian 4

The Phil Campbell Bobcats took control of the Shoals Christian Flame early to go on to win 16-4.

Phil Campbell scored four runs in the first and 12 runs in the second to coast to an easy win.

Amber Ergle had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3, hitting a two-run inside-the-park home run. Ergle had four RBIs and scored three runs.

Swinney and Quinn also scored three runs each, and Taylor also hit a home run in the game.

Emily Ergle and Mills combined for three innings pitched.
