Dr. Timothy “Tim” Dale Reed

Dr. Timothy “Tim” Dale Reed, 65, of Phil Campbell passed away Feb. 15.

Tim earned a master’s degree in biology from Auburn University and a PhD in entomology from Clemson University. He worked as an Extension Entomologist for Cotton and Soybeans at Auburn University Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology. Prior to that he worked as a county agent for the Extension Service in the Covington and Franklin Counties, where he helped numerous farmers.

Visitation will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church in Phil Campbell Feb. 17 from 5-8 p.m. The body will lie in state from 9:30-11 a.m., and the funeral will follow at 11 a.m., Feb. 18 at Mountain View with Bro. Sammy Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the adjourning church cemetery.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Regenia Reed of Caddo.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 33 years, Joy Kimbrough Reed; his son Andrew (Alli); his daughter Caitlin (Scott Maijala); his brothers, Dwain Reed and Joel Reed; Elizabeth (Ned Jones); many nieces and nephews; and a host of colleagues and friends.

The pallbearers will be Phillip Kimbrough, Patric Kimbrough, Ethan Jones, David Welborn, Thomas Wayne Murray, Jacob Murray, Tommy Murray and Larry Ikemire.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Operation Christmas Child fund at Mountain View Baptist Church, 2110 County Road 81, Phil Campbell.
