Carrie Seahorn joins RBES

First-year teacher Carrie Seahorn has been putting in hard work in her classroom at Red Bay this year, and administration has taken notice.

“Carrie is a great asset for our school and the first-grade team. She is working so hard and is a blessing to the students at Red Bay,” assistant principal Leigh Burks said.

According to Seahorn, the hard work pays off.

“I have learned to put in the extra work beforehand to be well prepared, and it allows for the school day to flow much more smoothly,” she said.

Seahorn is teaching first grade at Red Bay Elementary School and said it is going very well so far.

“I have a great group of students this year and great colleagues who are helping me tremendously,” she said.

The reason she enjoys her job so much, however, is because she gets to help children and make a positive impact on their lives. “I love to watch children learn something new, and it is even more special when I play a part in their learning process,” Seahorn said.

One of her favorite subjects to teach is science.

“There are so many hands-on activities that can be incorporated into that subject area,” she explained.

Seahorn is also furthering her own education while she is working with Red Bay’s youth. She has her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Athens State University, but she is working toward a master’s degree in elementary education from the University of West Alabama.
