Hi folks,

September is a month of change. We see the summer coming to a close. We roll the clocks back, and we see the trees and plants going to sleep for a few months. The hummingbirds will soon be leaving, and the yellow butterflies are beginning to fly away.

This can be a little sad, or it can be a happy time. After all, the flowers and trees have been beautiful, and they will be back in a few months to bring happiness and joy to all of us again. After all, they need rest as well.

I have always been amazed at the hummingbirds. We are told they make their way south for the cold weather. I read they will even catch a ride on the back of geese that fly south for the winter.

I hope the summer of 2018 has been a good one for everyone, especially the readers of Homefolks U.S.A.  If our stories have made your day a little brighter, then we have accomplished our goal.

Our readers certainly make my day by the nice remarks you make about our stories each week. Our family of readers keeps expanding every week, and new people tell me they read our stories, and they always bring back a lot of good memories. I believe that to appreciate the future we must know a lot about the past but remember we live in the present, so let us all make use of each and every day. I have said many times that no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. God knows what is best for everyone, and the Good Lord make no mistakes.

Last week I had the opportunity to spend time with Phil Campbell Study Club as their speaker, and the pleasure was all mine. I cannot remember when I have had a better time. I saw a group of people who are trying so hard to make things better for the coming generations. The Club has made scholarships available for so many young people throughout the year. As I told the club, education is very expensive, and when we have people that conduct fundraising events to make their scholarships available, that really says a lot about each member.

It’s always a pleasure to meet with groups and discuss things about people, places and events about our state and county. If you have an event you would like for me to be a part of, please let me know. The pleasure is always mine.
