Belgreen volleyball gets first area win

The Belgreen Bulldogs improved to 4-3 on the season and 1-0 in their area as volleyball season gets underway.

The Lady Bulldogs won their first area game last week against Covenant Christian 3-0.

Sophomore hitter Emma Dempsey was selected as the North Alabama Player of the Week with 15 kills, two digs, three aces and 10 service points.

Junior setter Autumn Bragwell had 26 assists, one block, two kills, five digs, one ace and 10 service points.  Junior hitter Ansley Tate had nine kills, one assist, two digs, four aces and seven service points.

The Bulldogs started off the season beating Belmont 3-0, Colbert County 2-0 and Elkmont 2-0. They lost to Class 6A Athens 2-1, Class 5A Brewer 2-0 and Class 3A Colbert County 2-1.

In the match against Belmont, Tate had seven kills, five digs, one assist and five aces. Dempsey had nine kills, one block, one assist, two digs and four aces. Senior middle blocker Camie Terrell had five kills, five digs and four assists. Bragwell had four kills, nine digs, four aces and 14 assists. Junior libero Bailey Wood had 24 digs.
