BHS volleyball finishes summer with wins

The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs finished their summer play dates last week with a 4-0 record in a tri-match against Sheffield and Tharptown for both the JV and varsity teams.
The JV started the day off against Tharptown winning both sets. Bailey Oliver started the match by serving 17 points in a row until being subbed out for a rest. Belgreen won the match 2-0 sets and finished by defeating Sheffield 25-5 and 25-9.

Earlier in the week, the JV also won matches against Covenant Christian and Cherokee in a tri-match July 23.
Belgreen’s varsity also played Covenant Christian and Cherokee. Belgreen won both matches in two sets – beating Covenant Christian, which will be in their area this year, with scores of 25-10 and 25-6.
July 24, Belgreen’s varsity played in three matches at Russellville, using a 30-minute running clock against 4A Wilson and Haleyville and 5A Hamilton. Belgreen defeated Haleyville and Hamilton and lost to Wilson by one point.
The varsity ended the summer by winning matches against Sheffield and Tharptown July 26. Against Sheffield, Belgreen won 25-6 and 25-5. In a much closer match, Belgreen beat Tharptown 25-23 and 25-19.
Both Belgreen and Tharptown begin mandatory practices Aug. 6.

The season begins for the varsity at Brewer High School in a big tournament Aug. 25. The JV will kick off their season Aug. 28 at Sheffield.
