RPD traffic stop leads to arrests

During the late-night hours of March 18, Russellville police officers performed a routine traffic stop that ended in the arrest of two Russellville citizens: Jaquorius Lamichas Johnson, 19, and Marina Shiann Black, 19.

“Patrol stopped the vehicle for a minor infraction, and during the investigative stop they detected or smelled an illegal substance in the car,” Sgt. Jake Tompkins said.

Tompkins said officers located marijuana, other illegal narcotics and a firearm, which Tompkins said had been stolen from Florence, in the vehicle.

“Both subjects were arrested on several drug charges, stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon,” Tompkins said.

Johnson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana first degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property third degree and carrying a concealed pistol without a permit.

Black was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed pistol without a permit, possession of marijuana first degree and receiving stolen property third degree.

Both are being held in the Franklin County Jail.
