Tharptown gets overtime wins

The Tharptown Wildcats lost a big lead in the fourth quarter but pulled away in overtime to get their first area win of the season, 74-65, over Phillips.

The Wildcats led Phillips 17-16 at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 36-27 at halftime. Tharptown outscored the Bears 17-12 in the third quarter to take a 14-point lead, but the Bears went on a 20-6 fourth quarter roll to tie the game and send it into overtime.

Tharptown outpaced Phillips 15-6 in overtime to get the win.

Levi McCormack led Tharptown, firing long-range three pointers and scoring 21 points. Edward Lopez followed with 16 points. Cole Daniel added 15 points, and Misael Saldana had 11 points. Winston Nolen, Carson Petree and Skyler Fields also scored for Tharptown.

B-Varsity Boys

The Tharptown Wildcats B-Varsity boys picked up their first win with a 46-44 overtime victory against Cherokee. Ruben Alfaro led the Wildcats with 17 points.
