    FC teams see diamond action

    Red Bay 8, Hamilton 5

    The Red Bay Tigers grabbed an early lead on the way to an 8-5 victory over the Hamilton Aggies last Monday. Red Bay scored on a walk by Chase Allen, a single by Kaleb Burroughs, an error and a triple by Chandler Allen in the second inning.

    Red Bay captured the lead in the second inning. Allen walked with the bases loaded to bring in a run. Hamilton scored four runs in the sixth inning. Hamilton’s big inning was driven by a two triples and fielder’s choice.

    Allen earned the win for Red Bay, throwing four innings, surrendering one run and one hit and striking out six. Kolby Bragwell threw one and two-thirds innings, as three relievers helped the Tigers finish off the victory. Bragwell recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Red Bay.

    Bragwell and Kaleb Burroughs each drove in two runs to lead the Tigers. Red Bay stole seven bases during the game. Max Bullen led the way with two stolen bases. Red Bay’s defense shined as the Tigers didn’t commit a single error. Blake Hester made the most plays with 11.

    Red Bay 10, Vina 8

    The Red Bay Tigers defeated the Vina Red Devils 10-8 on Thursday thanks to a walk-off stolen base.

    Vina scored five runs in the seventh inning, but Red Bay still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Vina came thanks to a single by Austin Harper, a walk by Austin Childers and a passed ball.

    Vina captured the lead in the first inning. Childers drove in one when he doubled in the first inning. After Vina scored one run in the top of the third, Red Bay answered with one of their own. Red Bay scored four runs in the fifth inning. The Tigers’ big inning was driven by a fielder’s choice by Luke Rooker and a stolen base by Max Bullen.

    Chandler Allen earned the win for the Tigers. He threw one inning, allowing three runs and one hit and striking out four. James Barnes took the loss for Vina. He tossed two and a third innings, allowing five runs and four hits and striking out six.

    Landen Burgett started the game for Red Bay. He went two and a third innings, giving up two runs and two hits and striking out four. Tyler Renfrow started the game for Vina. He pitched four innings, giving up five runs and four hits and striking out eight.

    Red Bay collected eight hits. Hester and Kaleb Burroughs each collected multiple hits for the Tigers. Allen went 1-for-2 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in. Red Bay stole 14 bases during the game.

    Vina had six hits in the game. Childers collected the bulk of the hits for Vina.

    Phil Campbell 4, Marion County 1

    The Phil Campbell Bobcats grabbed an early lead on the way to a 4-1 victory over the Marion County Red Raiders on Thursday. The Bobcats took the lead on an error in the second inning.

    Phil Campbell captured the lead in the second inning. An error scored one run for the Bobcats.

    Chase Hutchens earned the win for Phil Campbell. He threw two innings, allowing zero runs and zero hits, striking out two and walking zero.

    Colby Baker, Gage Roberson, Joe Hardy and Hayden Copeland each drove in one run to lead PC. The Bobcats committed no errors in the game.

    Red Bay 4, Hackleburg 3

    The Red Bay Tigers defeated the Hackleburg Panthers 4-3 thanks to a strong start. The Tigers captured the lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Red Bay.

    Landen Burgett earned the win for Red Bay. He pitched three innings, giving up two runs and one hit and striking out three. Skylar Brazil recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save for the Tigers.

    Burgett, Chandler Allen and Max Bullen all had one hit to lead Red Bay.

    Phil Campbell 13, Columbus 3

    The Bobcats defeated Columbus 13-3 thanks to a strong start. The Bobcats scored on a fielder’s choice by Joe Hardy, a single by Nate Owens and a walk by Nick Taylor in the first inning.

    Phil Campbell secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fifth inning, scoring on a passed ball and a stolen base by Ridge Raper, a double by Taylor, a single by Colby Baker, and a groundout by Hardy.

    Hayden Copeland earned the win for the Bobcats. He pitched three and a third innings, surrendering one run and two hits and striking out five. Peyton Thomas recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Phil Campbell.

    The Bobcats had seven hits in the game. Baker, Taylor, and Raper each collected multiple hits for Phil Campbell. Taylor, Hardy, and Owens each drove in two runs to lead the Bobcats.

    Mars Hill 7, Red Bay 5

    Despite a five-run deficit in the seventh inning, the Red Bay Tigers almost came all the way back, eventually falling 7-5 to the Mars Hill Panthers Saturday afternoon. Red Bay scored three runs in the failed comeback bid on a triple by Landen Burgett and a groundout by Max Bullen.

    Chandler Allen took the loss for Red Bay. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs and four hits and striking out eight.

    Burgett went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead in hits.

    Tharptown 14, Winston County 3

    The Tharptown Wildcats defeated the Winston County Yellow Jackets 14-3 in six innings Friday.

    Matt Hall pitched a complete game for the Wildcats, striking out four and giving up only four hits and a walk. Hall also had two hits and two runs batted in from the plate.

    T.J. McDonald had a double in the game. Braden Key singled and had an RBI. Hunter White had two hits and two RBIs. Each starter reached base safely and scored at least once.

    Winston County 8, Tharptown 6

    The Tharptown Wildcats fell to the Winston County Yellow Jackets 8-6.

    Freshman Britton Kennamore took the loss for the Wildcats. A five-run first inning hurt Kennamore and the Wildcats, but he settled in after that, striking out five, walking two and giving up six hits. Kennamore had two hits and two RBIs at the plate.

    Matt Hall had two hits and two RBIs. Carson Petree had a triple. Braden Key, Dakota Nolen and Jayden Mitchell each had a single. Each starter reached base safely at least once in the game.
