Ronald Eugene Fretwell

Ronald Eugene Fretwell, 66, of Russellville, passed away Nov. 22 at his residence.

Mr. Fretwell had lived in Franklin County most of his life and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  A 1969 graduate of Russellville High School, Mr. Fretwell was a proud member of the Golden Tiger State Football Championship Teams of ’66, ’67 and ’68. He was also a member of and enjoyed participation in the Shoals ATV Riders and the North AL Trail Riders Association. Having retired, he had most recently worked for Buffalo Rock Drink Company for more than five years.

Visitation will be Nov. 28 at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, from 5-8 p.m., and the funeral services will be Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Guy Estave. Burial will follow at Franklin Memory Gardens, Russellville.

Pallbearers will be Matt Mansell, Kevin Barton, Ray Nichols, Ralph Berryman, Roger Cassel and Marty Corbell.

Survivors include his wife Carol Mansell Fretwell; children, Tyler and wife Caressa Devaney Fretwell and Aymee Fretwell and husband Brandon Gandy. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Carter and Camden Fretwell and Rhett Gandy, and nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Fretwell was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Louise Powell Fretwell.

The Fretwell family extends a special expression of gratitude to the staffs of North Alabama Cancer Center and Hospice of North Alabama and to Drs. Loren McCoy and Michael Yordy for the compassionate and professional care they provided for their special loved one.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s Hospital, information for which is available at www.stjude.org.
