A Belgreen volleyball Lady Bulldog, freshmen outside hitter Katie Dempsey, was voted North Alabama Volleyball Player of the Week on AL.com. She had 4,971 votes of 9,891 total.

Dempsey led Belgreen with 19 kills, nine aces and nine digs in a win against Covenant Christian. The Lady Bulldogs are currently 13-9, 3-1 in area play.

Dempsey said she is excited about the improvements made on the season so far. “We have already won more matches than we did all of last season, and we have beaten teams this season we have never beaten before,” she said. “We have so many young players on our team, so we have confidence in our future.” Dempesey said she is honored to have been nominated and to have had so much support in the Belgreen community, with fans showing her – and her team – such great Bulldog love.
