Glenn E. (Slick) Uptain

Glenn E. (Slick) Uptain, 69 years old, of Tuscumbia, passed away Aug. 25 at ECM Hospital, Florence, of a sudden illness.

Visitation was Aug. 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville. Funeral services were Aug. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial was at Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating were Bro. Mike Smith and Bro. Keith Prince.

Mr. Uptain was born April 17, 1947, in Franklin County, to Harvey and Helen McCollum Uptain. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Uptain, sister Maudie Jane Clement and grandmother Maud McCollum.
Mr. Uptain was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired Ironworker and was a member of the Iron Workers Local No. 477. He loved Alabama football, bird hunting, Tennessee Walking Horses and being a Paw Paw.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Uptain, Russellville; two sons, Barry Uptain (Nick) and Shane Uptain, Russellville; two daughters, Mandy Uptain (Michelle) and  McCalah Uptain, Russellville; two stepsons, Eddie Woodard and wife Karen, Meridianville, and Joey Woodard and wife Debbie, Russellville; two brothers, Oneal Uptain and wife Barbara, Muscle Shoals, and Gary Uptain (C.J.), Norcross, Ga.; two granddaughters, Haley Woodard, Meridianville, and Megan Woodard, Russellville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were Jake Uptain, John Uptain, Joel Uptain, Wesley Uptain, Lance Seay and Martin Uptain.

Honorary pallbearer was Ronnie Hovater.
