Golden Tiger golfers win sectionals, head to sub-state

The Russellville High School boys’ golf team played in sectionals at Chesley Oaks. Their final team score was 280. Leading the team in scores was Eli Hodges with a score of 62, Joshua Seal with the score of 69 and Eric Boutwell with the score of 73. Hodges also stood out as an individual, winning low medalist. The RHS boys golf team came in first at sectionals and will be competing in sub-state May 2 at Gunter’s Landing in Guntersville.

RHS’ girls golf team played in sectionals April 25. The Lady Golden Tigers had a team score of 259 in sectionals – lower than any of their competition. Leading the team was Ashton Moore with the score of 82, followed by Morgan Moon with 85, Josie Willis with 92 and Bailey Tubb with 93. The RHS girls golf team was followed by St. Paul II with the score of 281 and Deshler with the score of 284.

Next up for both teams is sub-state, where the competition heightens.
