Red Bay freshman enjoys spring break in London

Abbey Jones had a unique spring break experience in London, taking in iconic sights like Abbey Road and snapping a requisite red phone booth picture.

Traveling to a different country is a dream for many people. Experiencing different cultures, eating different foods and seeing the amazing sights are all experiences that come with travel to a far away place. Abbey Jones was recently able to cross this off of her bucket list by traveling to London over the spring break holidays.

Jones, a freshman at Red Bay High Schoo,l made the trip with her parents, Mike and Liz Jones. This was a special family trip they said they will always remember.

“We got to explore the city of London and visit my family that lives in a nearby village called Cholsey,” said Jones.

Jones said her favorite part of the trip was getting to visit with family and being able to see so many of the historical places. The nine hour plane ride, she said, was the worst part of the trip.

Visiting a different country provides a great opportunity to notice how things are done differently than in the United States. Besides the accent, Jones said one thing really stood out to her was the different transportation in London.

“Transportation was the biggest difference I noticed between their culture and ours,” said Jones. “None of the London natives drive. They take the tube or taxi, or they walk. Driving is just not a part of their lives over there.”

Jones and family are safely back in the United States with a good trip to always remember. Jones said no matter where you go, there is always no place like home.
