Belgreen picks up three big wins

The Belgreen Bulldogs softball team is on a roll and racking up some big wins heading to the area tournaments. The Bulldogs defeated Haleyville 5-4, Vina 16-1 and Tharptown 8-2 in games last week.

Krista Sikes picked up the win against Haleyville pitching five innings, striking out three and giving up three hits. Mackenzie Anglin got the save. Allyson Bragwell went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Katie Dempsey, Johnna Oliver, Camie Terrell, Sikes, Courtney Williams, Emmi Scott, Kylie Murray and Anglin each had a hit in the game.

Anglin and Emma Dempsey combined to shut down the Vina Red Devils 16-1, allowing only two hits. Bragwell went 2-for-3 with a double and an inside-the-park home run. Katie Dempsey went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple. Terrell went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single. Courtney Williams also had a double and a single going 2-for-3. Abby Hester scored the lone run for Vina.

Anglin picked up a complete game win against Tharptown in non-tournament play last week. Murray went 2-for-4 with two singles and a runs scored. Bragwell went 2-for-4 with a double, a single and a run scored. Terrell went 2-for-4 with a double and a single. Williams went 2-for-3 with two singles and two runs scored. Oliver went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and a single. Scott and Dempsey each contributed a single.

Belgreen has improved to 12-9 overall and 4-0 in the area.
