The Tiger bats stayed hot Monday night as the girls downed the Phil Campbell Bobcats 15-6. Rodriguez pitched 4.1 innings, giving way to Tucker, who finished the final 2.2. Pierce led the way at the plate, going 4-for-4. Lila Blackburn added four hits in five tries, including a double that rattled the bottom of the fence. Tucker went 3-for-4 (two doubles and a single) along with Kaitlin Robbins (two singles and a double), which puts the two seniors high up on the individual batting average chart. McKinney went 3-for-5, which included a double that hit the fence within inches of where Blackburn’s ball did. Rodriguez also went 3-for-5, notching three singles. All total, the Tigers netted 22 hits versus the Bobcats.

The Tigers are now 3-0 on the season.

Tharptown Softball

Tharptown beat Belgreen last Tuesday 10-0 in five innings.

The Wildcats scored five runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Haley Malone, a two-run double by Kaitlyn Vandiver and a bases loaded walk by Crista Sikes. Malone racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats’ Vandiver kept Belgreen off the scoreboard for all five innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on six hits while ringing up three.

The lead stayed with the Wildcats after the first, when they scored three runs on two singles.
