Billy L. Bowers

Billy Leon Bowers, 80, of Tuscumbia, passed away March 1 at his residence.

Mr. Bowers was a native of Arkansas but had lived in this area since 1960.  He was a member of the Baptist church and loved music and gospel singing.  He was retired from Reynolds Metals.

The funeral service was March 4 at 2 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Colbert County. Officiating was the Rev. Marty Raybon. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday from noon until service time.

Survivors include daughters, Sharon Bowers Hopson and husband Michael and Lynn Bowers Vandiver and husband Daniel; sister, Emma Nell Bowers Willingham, Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Courtney Vandiver Raybon and husband Matt, Jay Vandiver and Tyler Henson and wife Tasha; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Hopson and husband Mikell and Jeremy Hopson; great-grandson, Jordan Tyler Henson; and step-great-grandchildren, Lucus and Lily Hopson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lonnie Crump Bowers; wife, Brenda Sue Counts Bowers; daughter, Melissa D. Bowers Nelson; brother, Thomas H. Bowers; and sisters, Patty B. Sprague, Sue B. Hicks, Sissy B. Cook and Grace B. Kikinder.

Pallbearers were Tyler Henson, Jay Vandiver, Matt Raybon, Russ Willingham, Roger Parish, Daniel Perkins, Harold Riggs and Billy Burke.

Honorary bearer was Jordan Tyler Henson.

He was a very loving daddy, grandad and gandad.  He will always be missed.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. McAnally, Kasie and Michelle of North Alabama Hospice, Elizabeth, with Dr. True, Matt and Dr. Lynn Ridgeway.
