James Frederick “Freddy” Barnett

James Frederick “Freddy” Barnett, age 64, Haleyville, passed away Jan. 10, 2016, at the VA Hospital.

Freddy was a man with a heart of gold that always made you laugh. He was a devout Auburn fan, War Eagle. He proudly served his country in the US Army, serving both in Vietnam and Germany. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by everyone.

The visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. Jan. 15 at Oakman Church of God, Market Street, in Oakman. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the church. Officiating will be Bro. Johnny Martin and Bro. Kenneth Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Norma Pruitt; daughter, Mellie Barnett; son, Christopher Perry and wife, Ashley; step-children, Dottie Herrero and husband, Andrew; LaDecka Pruitt; grandchildren, Kortney Gandy and Dylan Perry; step-grandsons and step-granddaughter; sisters, Patsy “Jennie” Creel and husband Bill, Edith Franklin and husband Terry, Kimberly Maddox and husband Tim; sister-in-law, Diane Naramore; several nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, James “Twist” Barnett; mother, Minnie Jeanette Tingle; daughter-in-law, Renea Perry; brother-in-law, Ronald Naramore; ex-mother-in-law, Charlotte June Creel.
