Vera M. Brazil

Vera M. Brazil, 85, went to be with her Lord Dec. 28, 2015, at The Meadows, Fulton, Miss. She was born in New Site, Miss., to Odus McCreary and Flora Bell Cleveland McCreary. She was a seamstress for twenty years, a homemaker and a member of Red Bay Church of Christ. She loved her family, church family and her friends and caretakers at The Meadows.

Services were Dec. 31, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Scott Webster officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Marietta, Miss.

Survivors are: six children – June Smith of Parma, Ohio, Sherry Strickland and husband Don, Angie Black and husband Tom and Laurence Brazil, all of Red Bay, Sheila Renfro and husband Ken of Ocala, Fla., and Glenda Schmalz and husband John of Cherokee; 17mgrandchildren – Joanne Wright, Sara Clay, Rachel Smith, Greg Strickland, Carey Bohannon, Jeff Strickland, Amber Matinez, Donovan Mills, Charles Black, Jeremy “Scott” Black, Eddie Mitchell, Rachel Renfro Kelley, Kendall Renfro, Audrey Embrey, Whitney Brown, John T. Schmalz and Joshua Schmalz; a host of great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and one sister – Faye Redding, Rancho Cordova, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley “Eddie” Brazil, a grandson, Danny Powell, her parents and two brothers, Ellis and Dallis McCreary.

Pallbearers were Eddie Mitchell, James McCreary, Mitchell McCreary, Kendall Renfro, Jeff Strickland and Wesley Bohannon.

Visitation was Dec. 30, 6-9 p.m., at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
