Association gives Christmas to county foster children

By Macy Reeves for the FCT

Dec. 12, the Franklin County Foster and Adoption Association held its annual Christmas party at the Methodist Church in downtown Russellville. The party was for foster parents, adopted children and foster children and is just one of the things the association does to help foster and adoptive families in Franklin County.

“We were mainly wanting to let people know what we do throughout the year,” said president Sandy Allison.

The event boasted all sorts of fun for the children and parents – bouncy houses, bean toss, bingo and face painting. Pictures with Santa were taken by one of the foster moms, Faith Hill.

“It helps the foster kids out so they can have a good Christmas,” said Santa.

The event also had prizes for each of the foster children and adopted children. About 40 people attended the event.

Allison said the association gives a $20 gift to any child who enters a non-relative foster care, which is funded by fundraisers and donations, when they first become part of a foster family.

Anyone is welcome to join or help host an event. To make a donation contact Allison at 256-460-5061.
