Pearlie Oniece Smith

Pearlie Oniece Smith, 83, passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Red Bay, to Oscar Newell and Rosa Yielding Newell. She was a restaurant owner and attended Cornerstone Church of God, Red Bay.

Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 2p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God with Bro. Benjamin Young and Bro. Rick Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are seven children, James Johnson and wife, Lora, Johnny Johnson and wife, Linda, Bobby Smith, Jerry Smith and Eric Smith and wife, Tonia, all of Golden, Miss.; Lisa Windham and husband, Mitch Tishomingo, Miss. and Rose Underwood and husband, Terry Dennis, Miss.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Starling and Mary Milam Anderson and one brother, Travis Newell.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Allen Smith, second husband, Albert Decanter, two children, Jackie Wayne Johnson and Brenda Gale Johnson and four brothers and sisters, Ellie Strickland, Nancy Stroupe, A.C. Newell and Jack Newell.

Pallbearers will be Brad Smith, Austin Smith, Clay Underwood, Donald Lee Raper, Daniel Humphries and Jonathan Smith.

Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 30, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, and she will lie in state Tuesday, Dec. 1, 9a.m.–2p.m. at the church.
