RBHS PTO gears up

The Red Bay High School PTO is set to begin its second year, and the organization is already busy planning lots of activities for the upcoming school year. Sherri Farris, PTO president, invites anyone who is not a member to come to a meeting and become involved with this organization.

“Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium is the first PTO meeting of the year,” said Farris. “We want to go over ideas and goals for this school year and help raise awareness with the parents on how they can be onboard with us.  Only with parental and community support will we reach our common goals.”

The PTO began last school year and had a successful first year raising money and completing projects around the school.

The first activity planned for this year is a talent show for the junior and high school students at RBHS. The talent show will take place in the auditorium Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. Tickets will be $2 for adults and $1 for students. This will be a night dedicated to showing off the many talented students in Red Bay junior and high school.

The second activity is scheduled for Sept. 18, and it is the BBQ sandwich sale. The sale will begin at 3 p.m. and take place in the lunchroom. This is the date of the varsity football home game against the Phil Campbell Bobcats. Ticket sales for the BBQ sandwich sale will begin soon with more details to follow.

Farris serves as PTO president, Ashley Watson serves as vice-president, Cynthia Fowler is secretary/treasurer, and Brad Bolton and Mitch Nethery serve as at-large members. All members are looking forward to the 2015-2016 school year and hope to see parents at the first PTO meeting of the year, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.
