Belgreen defeats Vina

 

The Belgreen Bulldogs defeated the Vina Red Devils 9-5.  Laken Bragwell got the win for the Bulldogs.  Allyson Bragwell went 3-for-4 with a standup triple.  Shelly Barber also went 2-for-2.

 

Vina comes from behind to defeat Hackleburg

 

The Vina Lady Red Devils overcame a 5-0 deficit to Phillips Bears to win 13-12. In the second inning, Abby Hester, Skyler Smith, Hannah Baggett, and Erica Cantrell all walked and scored.  Maddie Raper and Annabelle Upton were hit by a pitches and then scored.  Finally, a hit by Kaitlyn King led to a 8-5 lead by Vina.

Phillips score four in the third inning retake the lead 9-5. Vina bounced back in the bottom of the third with four more runs with a double from Upton and a triple from Cantrell to give Vina a 12-9 lead.

Phillips picked up one run in the sixth and two in the seventh to tie the game 12-12. In the bottom of seventh, Smith walked and advanced to second by Brooke Brown. Upton’s second hit of the game was a game winner.

 

Red Bay defeats Vina

 

The Red Bay Tigers held off a rally to defeat the Vina Red Devils 5-3.  Red Bay’s Kaitlin Robbins, Jordan McKinney and Morgan Pierce all singled in the first and Autumn Higginbottom hit a triple in the second for the Lady Tigers to give Red Bay a 3-0 lead.

In the top of fourth, Brooke Brown hit a triple and scored on a sacrifice by Hannah Baggett for the Lady Red Devils. Kendie Rooker had a double in the bottom of the fourth and two Red Devils errors led to a 5-1 lead by Red Bay.

In the top of the fifth, Vina’s Maddie Raper and Ashleigh Thompson walked, Raper moved to third on a passed ball. Abby Hester reached on a fielder choice and stole second. A pick-off at second resulted in a error and Raper and Hester scored cutting the lead to 5-3.

Vina is hosting a tournament on Saturday the 18th with Winston County and Shoals Christian.
