The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs got their first win over the Tharptown Lady Wildcats in four years to win the Tharptown Invitational Tournament last weekend. And now they look to keep that momentum going into the rest of the season.

Krista Sikes got the win for the Bulldogs striking out one and giving up four hits.

Belgreen scored four runs in the first inning and three in the third to break the game open 10-3.  But Tharptown rallied in the bottom of the fourth inning and scored three runs trying to get something going. Belgreen held on down the stretch for a final score of 10-6.

Emmie Scott went 2-for-2 at the plate with two singles and scored a run.  Allyson Bragwell went 3-for-3 and scored three runs as the Belgreen bats came to life.

Tharptown’s Savannah Hamilton went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.  The Wildcats may have been foiled by fielding mistakes as they had seven errors in the game.

Earlier in the week the Belgreen Bulldogs shut out the Vina Red Devils in a lopsided 14-0 romp.

Laken Bragwell got the win for Belgreen. Bragwell gave up five hits and recorded nine strikeouts in five innings of stellar work for the Lady Bulldogs.

Katie Dempsey went 3-for-4 on the night and scored three runs.  Courtney Williams went 3-for-4.  Allyson Bragwell went 2-for-4 with a double.

The Lady Bulldogs scored five runs in the second inning and four runs in the third on their way to breaking the game open.

The Bulldogs are 1-0 in area play and 2-2 overall.
