Clifton Henry Wooten, 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at his residence.

He was a coach and principal for 30 years was an inductee of the Franklin County Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of Pilot Hill Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Graveside services were Thursday, Oct. 2, at Pilot Hill Cemetery, Vina, with Bro. A.H. Akins officiating. Burial was in Pilot Hill Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Jeannine Wooten, Vina; four children, Randal Wooten and wife, Carol, Vina, Jimmy Wooten and wife, Zina, Bartlett, Tenn., Peggy Long and husband, Ronnie, Olive Branch, Miss., and Paul Wooten and wife, Laura, Jackson, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special friend and co-worker, Michael Moomaw; three brothers, Cluston Wooten and wife, Joyce, Vina, Thomas Ed Wooten and wife, Elizabeth, Rome, Ga. and Roy Lee Wooten and wife Faye Nell, Haleyville; one sister, Doris Williams and husband, Lowell, Vina; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Shellie Scott Wooten; and two sisters, Mary Lou Emerson and Eloise Paden.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Visitation was Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
