Free tax workshop offered

Starting a new business and have tax questions?

Mark your calendar and attend the Alabama Department of Revenue’s free New Business Workshop scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m, in Florence.

The workshop will be held at the Shoals Chamber of Commerce, Shoals Center for Business and Economic Development, 20 Hightower Place, in Florence.

The free workshop will cover a variety of state tax information topics, including employer withholding taxes, state and local sales taxes, property taxes, and business licensing requirements.

An overview of Alabama’s business tax electronic filing programs will also be presented.

ADOR presenters will also provide workshop participants with information about Alabama’s new ONE SPOT, a free Internet filing and payment portal that allows business taxpayers to file and pay state, county, and city sales, use, and rental taxes now all in one place.

Although the workshops are designed for new business owners, established business owners have also benefitted from these workshops in the past and are invited to attend if they are interested.

For more information concerning the Muscle Shoals New Business Workshop, visit the department’s website at www.revenue.alabama.gov or call 256-383-4631, ext. 225.
