Area tournaments set this week

Area softball tournaments begin this week.

All county teams will be participating in the double-elimination tournaments. The top two teams in each area will advance to the next stage in the state tournament.

Dates and times are not available due to rescheduling because of severe weather earlier in the week.

Tharptown won their regular season area, which gives them the right to host the 1A, Area 11 tournament. The teams in 1A, Area 11 are Belgreen, Hackleburg, Phillips, Tharptown and Vina.

Colbert Heights will host the 2A, Area 16 tournament. The teams in 2A, Area 16 are Cherokee, Colbert Heights, Phil Campbell and Red Bay.

Muscle Shoals will host the 5A, Area 16 tournament at Northwest-Shoals Community College in Muscle Shoals. The teams in 5A, Area 16 are Athens, Lawrence County, Muscle Shoals, and Russellville.
