The Belgreen Bulldogs, led by Chase Landers, exploded for 32 points in the third quarter and went on to defeat county rival Phil Campbell 85-51 on Jan. 28.

Phil Campbell was within striking distance of pulling off the upset in the first half. The Bobcats were trailing the Bulldogs by only eight points before Belgreen drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to take a 37-26 halftime lead.

The 32-point barrage that overwhelmed the Bobcats in the third quarter came mostly from senior sharp shooter Chase Landers.  Landers nailed six three-pointers and scored twenty-two points.  The Bulldogs went on to outscore the Bobcats 16-10 in the fourth quarter in route to the win.

Landers led all scorers with 38 points. He was followed by Josh Devaney’s 16 points and Dustin Smith’s 11 points. Other Bulldogs in the scoring column were Ben Inman (6), Will Barnwell (4) and Hugo Castillo (4). Jarred Mitchell, Dakota Davis and Abram Thorn scored two points each.

Colton Vickery led Phil Campbell with 20 points. He was followed by Tommy Reed’s 13 points and Bailey Motes’ 11 points. Skylar Tackett (4) and Nathan Duncan (3) also scored points for the Bobcats.
