Kathy Franklin formerly of Vina, received a new address on June 12, 2013.  Her home is now in Heaven, with her Lord Jesus Christ.  Our loss is Heaven’s gain, and she will be greatly missed forever.

She was born in Calico Rock, Arkansas. She was a retired office manager. She was a member of Mt. Hope Freewill Baptist Church, where she worked diligently for Christ for 45 years. She cared deeply for her town and community and volunteered in a number of civic organizations. Her favorite job was caring for her family. She was a loving and amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother – known to most as “Mom”.

Services were Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel, Hamilton, with Bro. Bradley Long and Bro. Darren Pollard officiating. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery, Vina, Alabama.

She left behind her beloved husband of almost 59 years, D W Franklin, and their four children: Deborah Avery and husband Danny, Mike Franklin and wife Susanne, Diane Ozbirn and husband Timmy, and AnnaKay Holland and husband Mark.  She also left behind eight grandchildren: Danyel Guth and husband Chris, Amy Harper and husband Stevie, Heidi Hargett and husband Joe, Tracie Skinner and husband Lance, Kacie Long and husband Bradley, Chase Holland, Adam Ozbirn, and Kaydee Holland.  She also left behind 11 great-grandchildren, sister Wauneace Fikes, brother Ricky Sherrill, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents:  Osba and Vella Sherrill; sisters, Jean Estes, Blonda Kankey, and Darleace Sherrill; and brother, Don Sherrill.

Pallbearers were Danny Emerson, Sascha Franklin, Jesse Shotts, Chris Guth, Stevie Harper, and Joe Hargett. The family wishes to thank everyone for their loving expressions of sympathy.
