Joy Eugene Spencer, 85, died Friday, May 31, 2013, at Helen Keller Hospital.

He was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Alabama to Oscar and Teeny Jackson Spencer. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in occupied Germany.

Services were Monday, June 3, 2013, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Jimmy Massey officiating. Burial was in Old Burleson Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are two sons, Ronnie Spencer and wife, Diane, of Wesson, Miss., and Don Spencer and wife, Denise, of Red Bay; one daughter, Donna Rogers and husband, Randy, of Vina; five grandchildren, Justin Spencer and Julie McGee, both of Wesson, Miss.; Isaac and Anna Belle Spencer, both of Red Bay, and Jonathon Rogers, of Vina; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; his caregiver, Donna Burks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Quinn Spencer; his parents; three brothers, J.W. Spencer, Billy Spencer and Junior Spencer; and two sisters, Louise Creekmore and Dorena Upton.

Pallbearers were Joey Allen, Jon Taylor, Eddie Blunt, Tony Rogers, Wayne Allen, and Clayton Brooks. Honorary pallbearers were Isaac Spencer and Jonathon Rogers.
