Ray Ashley, 82, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at Red Bay Hospital.

He was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Mississippi to George and Jean Prestage Ashley. He was a member of New Union Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Wrangler as a mechanic.

Services were Sunday, May 19, 2013, at New Union Missionary Baptist Church, Red Bay, with Gerald Collum and Bro. Greg Philamlee officiating. Burial was in Halltown Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Joyce Ashley, of Red Bay; one son, Johnny Ashley and wife, Wilma, of Red Bay; one daughter, Jeanie Ashley, of Red Bay; grandson, Glendon Ashley; four great grandchildren, Chyenne Ashley, Duane Hughes, Glen Ashley and Tre Ashley; one sister, Ida Oliver, of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Pearl Ashley, Ervin Ashley, Estelle Bostick, Leona Garrison, Dewey Ashley, Alfred Ashley, Pertie Ashley and Virginia Pendergraph.

Pallbearers were Otis Boyd, Jerry Hagood, Edwin Oliver, Michael Gresham, Robbie Hall and Daryl Ivy. Honorary pallbearers were Frankie Hamm and Randy Boyd.
