Grand jury charges man in car break-in cases

A Russellville man was indicted by the March grand jury for his alleged role in several car break-ins in the area this past summer.

James Dewayne Hall, 21, 28 Twin Lakes Dr., Russellville, was indicted for two counts of second-degree theft of property, two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and one count of third-degree theft of property, Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said.

According to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett, the police department received three reports during the last week of July of vehicles that had been broken into in the Whitten Road area of Russellville.

Hargett said during the course of the investigation, Hall was developed as a suspect.

Police investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said they executed a search warrant at Hall’s residence on July 31.

“Following the search warrant, Hall was picked up for questioning,” Lowery said.

“During the questioning, Hall admitted to his involvement in the vehicle break-ins.”

Lowery said there is a .22 caliber Remington rifle that was stolen during one of the break-ins as well as CDs, coins, and two gas cans.

Rushing said Hall’s case would be placed on the May 2 arraignment docket and the June criminal trial docket.
