AWF hosting wild game cook-off
Backyard Chefs from the Quad Cities area will square off on Saturday, March 23 at 4 p.m. as the Alabama Wildlife Federation hosts its annual AWF / Alabama Army National Guard Wild Game Cook-Off at the Longhorn Arena.
Cook teams are needed, so grab your apron, shine up your grill and get ready to battle!
Entry for the cook teams is free, but teams must pre-register prior to the day of the event at www.alabamawildlife.org.
Cook teams that pre-register will be put in a drawing for a chance to win four (4) Saturday and Sunday Talladega Superspeedway tickets; thanks to our friends at Talladega Superspeedway. Categories include wild game, fish and fowl.
Prizes will be awarded to first through third place in each division, as well as Best Overall, Best Presentation and a People’s Choice Award sponsored by the Alabama Army National Guard. The overall winner will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook August 3rd to compete for the title of AWF 2013 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.
The event will be the perfect opportunity for sportsmen and women and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy some good old fashion fun and fellowship, and for backyard chefs to show off their culinary skills.
If you prefer to eat rather than compete, come sample some of the area’s best wild game dishes. Ample servings of great food are always featured, including entrees such as venison, duck, dove, pheasant and much more!
In addition to all the outstanding food, a major highlight of the cook-off will be shotgun, rifle and youth gun raffles and a huge silent auction. Tickets are available for $35 per person/per couple at the door. Proceeds benefit Alabama Wildlife Federation’s programs and projects.
The ticket price includes one Alabama Wildlife Federation membership, a subscription to the Alabama Wildlife magazine, and all of the food you can eat!
