Edward “Ed” Dewey Miller, 91, Russellville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at ECM Hospital.

Mr. Miller was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Russellville, the Masonic Lodge No. 371 F. & A.M., and the Laborer’s Local Union #366 for more than 50 years.

His hobbies included tractor and bush hogging work, rabbit hunting, watching Atlanta Braves baseball, and spending time with his family. He was usually out by 6 a.m. doing tractor and garden work for people in and around Russellville, even at the age of 91.

Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating at the service was Bro. George McGuire and Bro. Johnnie Smith. Burial was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughters, Greta Owens and husband, Jim, Gloria Bentley and husband, Charles, Judy Seal and husband, Micky, and Linda Hopf and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Brad Bentley and wife, Carissa, Mark Seal and wife, Natasha, Megan Bentley Smith and husband, Eric, Lindsey Hopf; great-grandchildren, Dalton Seal, Layla Seal, Bentley Smith, Madison Kimbrough; sisters, Hazel Kimbrough, Lola Henson; and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Olean Miller; infant daughter, Brenda Miller; parents, Tollie and Lena Miller; sisters, Marie Vickers, Christine Chambers; and brother, Fred Miller.

The pallbearers were Brad Bentley, Mark Seal, Eric Smith, Stephen Holland, Jimmy Don Kimbrough and Freddy Kimbrough. The honorary pallbearers were Steve Defoor, Howard Barnett, Royce Holcomb, Raymond Vernon, Johnny Smith, Willie Groce, David Lupton, Troy Oliver and John Jolly.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. McFall and Dr. Webb and the 3rd floor staff at ECM Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the love and care of our family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Russellville, Building Fund, 201 North Green Street, Russellville, AL 35653 or the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
