Christine James Townsend, 85, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was a native of Alabama and was a seamstress at Blue Bell for more than 20 years. She was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.
Services were Friday, April 13, 2012, at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Dan Hindman and Bro. Brent Townsend officiating. Burial was in Burnout Cemetery. Survivors are two sons, Richard Earl Townsend and wife, Deborah, and Tommy Lee Townsend and wife, Charlotte, all of Vina; daughter-in-law, Karen Townsend, Phil Campbell; six grandchildren, Bradley Earl Townsend, Brent Tyler Townsend, Blake Caleb Townsend, Crystal LeeAnn Townsend, Kevin Lee Townsend and Claudia LaShay Townsend; three sisters, Marvelene Coats, Martha Jean Oliver and Barbara Collum, all of Vina, and one brother, Johnnie Houston James, of Vina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Townsend, two sons, Harold Townsend and Jeff Townsend and her parents, Johnnie James and Claudie Shewbart James.
Pallbearers were Donald Gober, Danny Shewbart, Terry James, Jerry James, Ronald Coats and Phillip Hughes.
