Stacy Elizabeth Scott Guynes, of Flowood, Miss., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, Miss.

Stacy was a native of Russellville, where she attended the Russellville city schools and was involved in many extra- curricular activities.

She participated in and won several beauty pageants in Russellville and the adjacent Tri-county area.  Stacy was quite well known throughout Franklin and the surrounding counties in Alabama as she “helped” her mother run the Russellville Daily Reminder, a local newspaper and operate a number of real estate holdings.  She won many school honors and was well loved by all of her teachers and classmates.  One of her school essay’s earned a personal invitation to the inauguration of President Jimmy Carter.  She was a well-trained musician having made her “Baldwin walk” commencing at five years old.

Stacy participated in several beauty pageants and won several science fairs with her model projects in Alabama. She represented the city of Russellville as “Little Miss Poppy” and “Little Miss Buffy”.

Stacy moved to Brandon, Miss., in 1976.  She became active in the Brandon High School band and was known for her saxophone capabilities.  Stacy was a State Science Fair Winner with her project of producing electricity and received various other awards and certificates throughout her high school years. She graduated from high school early by skipping her senior year.  She studied at Millsaps College for two years and graduated from Mississippi College where she was awarded numerous scholarships and was a Dean’s List Scholar while she earned degrees in Accounting, Business and Real estate.  She worked closely with faculty, more specifically, Doc Quick and Dr. Gerald Lee.

Stacy participated in and won several beauty pageants throughout Mississippi, having held the title of “Miss Mississippi Sweetheart”.

After finishing college, Stacy moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she worked in the banking industry.  After moving back to Mississippi she worked for the Mississippi Agribusiness Council, the Mississippi Department of Insurance and most recently, the Department of Banking and Consumer Finance as the Director of Administrative Services.  She achieved the designation as a Certified Public Manager and received a certification from the International Public Management Association for Human Resources.  She was a member of the Society of Financial Examiners, the Association of Government Accountants and the Mississippi Association of Personnel Administrators.

She professed her Christianity by becoming a member of the Baptist denomination.  She also attended the Russellville Washington Avenue Church of Christ.

Stacy is survived by her mother, Betty Cleveland Weatherly, of Brandon and Madison, Miss., and a host of relatives to include uncles, aunts and cousins in Alabama, Texas and Florida as well as other pre-deceased family members .

Graveside services were Friday Feb. 17, 2012, at Parkway Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Ridgeland, Miss.
