Jack N. Fowler, 89, of Belgreen, Ala. died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Helen Keller Hospital.
Funeral service will be Friday, October 21, 2011, 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, with Jackie Richardson officiating.  Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 noon until 2 p.m.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Fowler; sisters, Margaret Isom, Polly Tompson, Julia Woods; brothers, George Fowler, Bud Fowler, Otho Fowler; niece, Mary Ann Author; parents, Ben and Rebecca Fowler.
He is survived by his son, Jackie Fowler and wife, Peggy, of Phil Campbell; granddaughter, Teena Fowler Wray; great-grandchildren, Cortney Wray and Chad Wray, of Russellville; special friend, Dot Britton; nieces and nephews, Dee Fowler, Rebecca Grimes, Linda Anders; several great nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Belgreen Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Franklin County.  He lived the majority of his life in Belgreen.  He loved the Belgreen community and its residents.
He was employed in the Franklin County School System for 35 years, where he taught Vocational Ag.  He was instrumental in securing The Franklin County Vocational School and was the 1st director.  The Jack N. Fowler Vocational Building is named for him.  He served in the US Army as radio controller.  He graduated from Phil Campbell High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kentucky, Master’s Degree from Auburn University and his Education Specialist Degree from UNA.  He was an excellent educator and loved working with students.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  His family was an important part of his life and his love for his granddaughter, “Christina”, and his great-grandchildren, Cortney and Chad was evident in everything he did.
He was an avid sports fan loved watching Auburn football, but most of all cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats in basketball.  He will be truly missed.
The family would like to express their deep thanks to Dr. Vasic, Dr. Carmichael, and the 3rd floor nurses at Helen Keller Hospital for their excellent care.
