Gertha O. Scott, 90, of Vina, Ala. died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at her daughter’s residence in Decatur, Ala.  She was a native of the Burnout Community and had worked as an inspector for Elliott Farms.  She was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. with Bro. Jeff Horton officiating.  Burial was in Burnout Cemetery, Vina, Ala.

She is survived by three children, J.F. Scott and wife, Shirley, of Vina, Ala., Sue New and husband, Clay, of Decatur, Ala. and Joe Scott and wife, Gen, of Athens, Ala.; four grandchildren, Steven Scott and wife, Regina, Phillip Scott, Joseph Scott and wife, Carissa, and April Massey Betterton and husband, Danny; and six great-grandchildren, Kelly Scott, Allison Scott, Lacy Scott, Jackson Scott, Jay Stutchman and Travis Betterton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster Scott; and five brothers, Harvey Oliver, Seburn Oliver, Ernest Oliver, Bill Oliver and Edward Oliver.

Pallbearers were Joseph Scott, Phillip Oliver, Danny Betterton, Brandon Betterton, Steve Waits and John Barnes.

Honorary pallbearers were Steven Scott, Phillip Scott, David Oliver, Bill Oliver, Chris Henson, Clay Henson, Thomas Miller, Joseph Emerson, Jimmy Jackson, Archie Harden and Donnie Henson.
