James “Jim” O. Jackson, Jr. passed away on February 4, 2011, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Born in Georgia, Mr. Jackson moved his family to Russellville in 1958 when he became manager of Alabama Limestone. He opened Jackson Tire Center in 1971 and retired in 1991. In recent years, Mr. Jackson operated Jim Jackson Architectural Drafting, providing many families with custom house plans. Mr. Jackson was a WW II Navy veteran.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy “Dot” Jackson; four daughters, Lyn Assunto and husband, Pat, of Houston, Texas, Connie Rice and husband, Bob, of Russellville, Deb Bullard and husband, Wayne, of Athens, Ala. and Jann Fowler and husband, Sam, of Auburn, Ala.; brothers, Billy Jackson, of Byron, Ga., Leo Jackson, of Warner Robins, Ga.; one sister, Nancy Grant, of Marietta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jason Rice, of Jackson, Tenn., Beth Brantner, of Greenville, Texas, Kevin Rice, of Mumbai, India, Amy Johnson, of Woolhampton, England, and Emily Harrell, of Homewood, Ala.; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will received friends on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville.
