Council put politics aside for alcohol ordinance
The Russellville City Council approved the ordinances clearing the way for the legalized alcohol sales voters chose in November to begin taking place soon.
With this highly controversial issue, the council could have stalled in an effort to appease voters who did not want legalized sales. Instead city officials completed a quick, but thorough, study of alcohol ordinances throughout the state and implemented the policy they thought best for Russellville.
Thanks to the fast action of the council, Russellville can begin to move forward.
If the increase in tax revenue that supporters of legalized sales materializes, moving forward will be much easier as the town continues to feel the pinch of the poor economy.
