Gaines Masterson, 91, of Russellville, Ala. died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 at Russellville Health Care.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Brother Eddie Wix and Brother Josh Miller officiating.  Burial will be in Tharptown Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was a member of Tharptown Baptist Church.  He served as a Director with Franklin Electric Member Cooperative for 42 years and currently served as President.  Mr. Masterson was a Woodman of the World for over 71 years.  He was a member of Newburg Masonic Lodge Number 388.

Mr. Masterson was a lifelong farmer, raising his first crop when he was 17 years old.  He touched many lives with his dry wit, hard work, and strong will.  He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by daughters, Carolyn Goss and husband, Bo, Brenda Elliott and husband, Charles, both of Russellville; grandchildren, Carol Goss, of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Tammy Goss, of Troy, Ala., Matt Cooper and wife, Greta, of Russellville; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Bryson Cooper, both of Russellville; brother, Jack Masterson, of Florence, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Freda.

Pallbearers will be Rat Allen, Buck Minor, Waymon Pace, Floyd Tirey, Ed Underwood, and Larry Lee Underwood.
