County recycling program shows initiative
With landfills across the state reaching maximum capacity, Franklin County officials are not waiting for that problem to arise here before addressing the situation.
Instead, officials are starting a recycling program to help reduce the amount of trash heading to area landfills.
Three sites have been set up across the county to give citizens handy access points to participate in the program.
Citizens interested in participating can bring their recyclables to Red Bay High School, Phil Campbell High School and the Franklin County Solid Waste Department billing office in downtown Russellville.
It is good to see officials taking preventive measures before a problem occurs instead of reacting when it is too late.
