Bank robbery suspect in custody

Authorities have apprehended the man identified in the robbery that took place at the Phil Campbell branch of CB&S bank last Thursday.

Ronald Pollard, 49, who has been living at 2011 Hixon Ave., Florence, was taken into custody by the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to Lt. Marc McCormack, of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, ABI provided information to the TCSO that Pollard was in the area. TCSO set up surveillance and Pollard was taken into custody at a local hotel.

Authorities will have to wait for an extradition hearing to be held to determine whether or not Pollard will waive his extradition and return to face the charges in Franklin County, officials said.

Pollard remains in the custody of the TCSO.
