Judith Vinson

Funeral services for Judith Ann Grissom Vinson, 62, were held  Tuesday, 22 June 2010 at 1 p.m. at
Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with the Chaplain (LTC) Jeffrey L. Voyles officiating and Pinkard Funeral Home directing.  Burial will be in the Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Alabama on June 23, 2010.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. preceding the funeral.
Mrs. Vinson died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital of pneumonia and other complications.  She was born January 19, 1948, at Russellville Hospital to JC Grissom and Betty Mae Pounders Grissom.  She married George Eldon Vinson, Jr. on 30 December 1963 and was
his devoted wife for 46 wonderful years.
She traveled the world serving her country as an Army wife for over 23 years. She moved to Decatur in 1989. She served soldiers and their families in many volunteer positions during this
time.  Her passion was pre-school work and she served many different schools as a teacher.
She was a devoted Christian serving her Lord in numerous churches throughout the country and
overseas in many capacities but primarily in children’s pre-school Sunday School work for more
than 25 years.  She also served as a Preschool Teacher / Trainer for Morgan Baptist Association.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Eldon Vinson and wife, Michelle (Mikki), of Madison and Michael Grissom Vinson and wife, Holly, of Decatur; two daughters, Jana Ann Vinson Voyles and husband, Jeffrey, of Fort Benning, GA, Diana Leigh Vinson of Norman, OK; 15 grandchildren, Stefan A. Fisher, Erin C. Fisher Winham, Jeffrey L. (Jay) Voyles Jr., Devin E. Fisher, Juliana C. Voyles, J. Tyler Vinson, Jane C. Voyles, Josephine C. Voyles, Caroline G. Vinson, Jefferson E.B. (Jeb) Voyles, Luke R. Vinson, Joseph L. Voyles, John G. Vinson, Jaxon C. Vinson, and Jude H. Voyles;  two great-grandchildren, Kael B. Winham and Lillian C. Moore.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey L. (Jay) Voyles Jr., J. Tyler Vinson, Gary D. Vinson Jr., James R. “Robbie” Vinson, John D. Grissom and Sam Gaston.
Those wishing to honor Mrs. Vinson through charitable donations are invited to consider the Tennessee Valley Outreach of Decatur, Alabama or Friends of Delano Park, Decatur.
