Pauline Jewel Oliver

Pauline Jewel Oliver, 92, of Spruce Pine, Ala. passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Spruce Pine. She worked a number of years for Nix Cleaners in Russellville.
Funeral service will be Saturday, October 10, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Jerome Sherrill officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery at Liberty Hill. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville assisted the family.
Survivors include husband, Dolphus Oliver, of Spruce Pine; daughter-in-law, Linda Marlene Whitehead, of Florence; stepson, Larry Oliver ans wife, Margie, of Spruce Pine; grandchildren, Lisa Gagne and husband, Wayne, Alan Whitehead and wife, Cindi, Paul Whitehead, Kristina Weaver and husband, Donald; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Elmer Whitehead; son, Glenn Whitehead.
Leander White
October 7, 2009
Leander White, 85, of Russellville, Ala. went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, Oct. 07, 2009.
There will be a homegoing celebration for Leander at 11 a.m. at God Cares For You Worship Center on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 with Rev. Wayne Black and Rev. Jimmy Baker, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Shiloh Church Cemetery in Greenhill, Ala. Akins Funeral Home assisted the family.
Leander was born on Oct. 13, 1924 to Frank and Ida White.
Pallbearers will be Brian Watson, Lenny Watson, John Towe, Zackery Etheredge, Anthony Ergle, David Baldwin, Alan Renda and Chris Douglas. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Watson, Stacey Douglas, Nathaniel Downard and David Douglas.
There inside the pearly gates to welcome him home is his first wife of 45 years, Emily White; parents, Frank &Ida Nix White; 6 brothers, Bill, Archie, Buddy, Lewis, George and Johnny; 2 sisters, Eloise Johnson, Enuice Chandler; 2 grandchildren, Sheila Ann Watson, Paul Buddy Watson; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Arvelo Watson.
The family here is longing to see him again soon including his loving wife of 19 years, Louise Amos White; son, Raymond White and wife, Maye, of Hamilton; step-son, Steve Amos and wife, Brenda, of Glencoe; 3 daughters, Knoxie Watson and husband, Thomas, of Town Creek, Caroline Dotson, of Russellville, Sandra Watson and husband, Larry, of Moulton; 5 step-daughters, Sandy Dodd and husband, Lee, of Oxford, Sherry Chapman and husband, Mike, of Glencoe, Carol White and husband, Curtis, of Athens, Teresa Renda and husband, Tim, of Talladega, Tracie Perkins and husband, Paul, of Peidmont; brother, Charlie White of Rockford, Ill.; sister, Myrtle Mears, of Mt. Hope; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great- grandchildren; 2 great-great- grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Flora Kayfan, Southern Care Hospice, Northwest Home Health and employees on the 4th floor of Shoals Hospital.
Roger Davis

Roger Davis, 73, of Phil Campbell, Ala. passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
Graveside services were held October 9, at Bethel Cemetery in the Dime community with Sammy Taylor officiating. Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville assisted the family.
He is survived by children, Byron Davis and wife, Tina, of Hackleburg; mother, Ivalea Davis, of Phil Campbell; granddaughter, Whitney Leigh, of Hackleburg; brothers, Dennis Davis and wife, Linda, of Spruce Pine, Bobby Davis and wife, Brenda, of Phil Campbell; sister Freida Guthrie and husband, Robert; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arley M. Davis; sisters, Sybil McCreless and Ellen Cash.
Judy Carolyn Newell

Judy Carolyn Newell, 63, of Double Springs, Ala., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at Lakeland Hospital in Haleyville.
The visitation will be 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Bro. Charlie James officiating. Interment will be Halltown Cemetery in Red Bay.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lelia Newell; grandparents; brother, Wayne Newell; and sister, Wanda Davis.
She is survived by her sisters, Martha Burleson and husband, M.C., of Tuscumbia, and Nancy Childers and husband, Bob, of Muscle Shoals; sister-in-law, Sue Newell, of Hackleburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will be Kyle Mills, Billy Mills, William Crewe III, Allen Burleson, M.C. Burleson, and Bob Childers.
