Club formed for young anglers

By Staff
During the heat of the summer many youngsters have found joy in passing the time at the lake with a fishing line in the water.
The Tri-County Bassmasters want to bring the joy of landing the big one to the youth of Franklin County by forming a youth bass club.
The club will host a series of six fishing tournaments throughout the summer for anglers ranging in age from 5-18.
The tournaments will be divided into three age groups with two events held at the Upper Bear Creek Reservoir, two events at the Little Bear Creek Reservoir and two events at Cedar Creek.
The top finishers in each age group at the end of the six tournaments will earn trophies and will advance to the state junior championship. The top finishers at the state tournament will compete in the national junior championship for a chance at college scholarships.
At the final event, there will be a drawing for prizes and each angler will receive a participation trophy.
The tournaments will start in June and run through August.
There is a $5 annual membership fee for the Youth Bass Club and entry fees for each tournament is $10.
For a tournament schedule and more information, contact Joey Wimberly at (205) 993-8050 during the day and (205) 993-5856 during the evenings.
