A fugitive from justice was apprehended in Franklin County Friday morning during a routine traffic stop.
Franklin County Sheriff Larry Plott said Montas Jeffery Commons, 34, of 412 Military Street in Hamilton, was arrested and being held for transport on drug trafficking charges in Jefferson County.
Plott said Commons was spotted driving into Russellville by county investigators, and the Russellville Police Department was called in to assist.
"He was arrested in downtown Russellville on a traffic stop," Plott said.
Commons was being held in the Franklin County Detention Center awaiting transport to Jefferson County.
"Jefferson County has a warrant for Commons for trafficking cocaine that stems from a traffic stop on Interstate 65 where one pound of cocaine was found in his possession," Plott said.
Plott said Commons fled the scene on foot and has been missing until now.
"Commons was placed on the national most wanted list after he fled the scene," Plott said.
He was also listed in the FCT's most wanted list.
Plott said Commons is also a fugitive from justice on charges in Florida, and he has misdemeanor warrants in Marion County and Russellville City Court.
"Commons is believed to be one the bigger cocaine dealers in the Russellville area," Plott said.
