Russellville girls give Bostick his first victory against Hartselle

When James Bostick took over the Russellville varsity girls basketball program he brought an impressive r/sum/ with him.
Six years later there was still something lacking – a victory against area foe Hartselle. His team took care of that omission Monday with a 48-33 victory against the visiting Lady Tigers.
"They played hard," Bostick said of his squad's effort. "As long as they continue to improve, we'll have a strong season."
Neither team could establish dominance in the first quarter, but the Lady Golden Tigers found themselves with a 10-7 lead after the first eight minutes.
Russellville closed out the second quarter on an 8-2 run to build a 10-point advantage at halftime.
Erin Reynolds and Tasha West each recorded a double-double for the Lady Golden Tigers.
West had a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds while Reynolds scored 13 and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Also scoring for Russellville were Taylor Smith (5), Janarie Donley (4), Kiera Jones (2), Ayanna McCollough (2) and Amber Elliot (1).
McCulloch recorded four steals for the Lady Golden Tigers.
With the win, Russellville improves to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in area play.
After the victory, Bostick liked his team's shot at making a splash in Class 5A, Area 15.
"The area is even this year," Bostick said. "If we play our game and not play (our opponents') game, we will have a good shot at being on top of the area at the end of the year."
The Lady Golden Tigers will play in the Holiday of Hoops VI Tournament in Etowah beginning Friday.
